My husband and I recently rescued a cat (pictured at right)! We spent a lot of time thinking up a name for her. I wanted to give her a music related name, but as it turned out, we ended up agreeing to name her “Kira.” But for any of you who might wish to give your pet a musical name, I’ve compiled a long list of my favorites!
Edit: We adopted a second cat! Guess what: we named her Coda. 🙂

I just love the names “Kawai” and “Steinway.” Wouldn’t it be fun to have a pet named after a piano for students to meet when they come for their lessons? =)
Sources:
We are actually trying to theme our pets with music/sound oriented named – for example, we have a dane named “Anthem”, and cats named “Phonic” and “Decibelle”. 🙂 Like your ideas, as well!
My husband is a percussionist anf our dogs name is “Remo”. Now we have to figure out a name for a new cat!
I havr saint bernards my male is Beethoven my girl is melody is i just got a girl saint pup and i want to name her something that goes with there names any ideas?
I googled Stony & Clark, which does sound super awesome for 2 cats, but I only found Story & Clark Pianos.
I still like Stony better 😉
Thanks for the list 😀
I had a dog named Steinway, and my only regret is that I’ve now used up that name! Everyone loved it. I’m getting a cat in a couple weeks and naming him Wolfgang Sebastian, and I will probably just call him Sebastian. My piano students will love it because I always go on and on to them about how amazing Bach is!
One of our dogs is named after a Caypo – because this was how big she was when we got her. We spell it K’Po. 🙂 Considering we are keeping her daughter, we may go with Minor (which also works as miner because she is black) or echo. 🙂
Oh, and I think Fux is a great name for a rabbit, while Amadeus sounds nice on a Lab Retriever 🙂
How about Mewsette (musette?)
Cute!
My friend has a fish named Shostakofish 🙂
Love it! 🙂
OMG I WANT TO NAME MY DOG PRESTO/VIVACE WHEN I GROW UP THANKS FOR THE NAMES!
My female cats are Melody, Harmony (both deceased), Sonata, Aria, Lyrica, Calypso (male) and anew addition, either Tremelo, Fantasy, or Marimba ( female).
How about Ragtime? Or Bix for Bix Beiderbecke? For a piano pair – Ivory and Ebony. My favorite for a tuxedo cat is Maestro. Thelonious Monk – you could use either of his names for a cool name.
Those are great names, Jean!
Another great one is Tenuto! But this list is wonderful!
Great addition for the list! Thanks, Jenny!!
