My spring studio recital took place a couple of weeks ago. Our recital venue was the church where I am employed as the church pianist and director of music. They have a lovely Yamaha DU1 that was purchased about a year ago.

Our recital theme, chosen by one of my students who is a graduating senior, was “fantasy.”

This recital was the end of an era for this graduating senior whom I’ve taught since she was six.

It was fun hearing the variety of fantasy-related pieces mixed in alongside other pieces.

Here is my older daughter performing.

And my younger daughter, age 3.5, made her debut performance this year. I wasn’t originally planning to have her play on this recital, but she was quite insistent that she wanted to! We performed a duet together from Marilyn Lowe’s Keyboard Games, Book A.

It’s always nice including a couple of student-teacher duets.

Another studio recital is in the books!

I hope your studio recital goes (or already went) smoothly!

Congratulations! What a lovely program.
Thank you, Diane!
Hi Joy. Thank you for sending me the recital info. What a pleasure to see and hear young musicians play the piano. Lovely students! I think I counted 15. You are very busy. I will sign up for your blog and stay in touch with you. I continue to be active and in good health and mentally strong…although a bit forgetful. Take care and would love to stay in touch??Patsy
It’s so nice to hear from you, Patsy! I’m glad to hear you are doing well. Yes, let’s stay in touch — I’ll text you some pictures of my kids soon. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this Joy! I always love to see other teachers programs. Yes my annual April ( before the craziness that the month of May holds!) recital went well. Highlight for me personally was playing a patriotic duet ( in honor of America’s bday) with my newish son-in-law….and having my first grand there too….making the age range of attenders from 6 months to almost 97 ( my mom who hasn’t missed one recital in almost 50 years!). Have a good retreat. Mentioned to you in Chicago this past March that I wish I could come but because of care-taking for mom it won’t work out this month. Blessings!
Me too — I enjoy seeing other teachers’ programs! It’s great to hear your studio recital went well this year with some very special highlights too! Would love to have you attend my retreat in a future year if it works out!! Have a wonderful summer, Karen!
