Staying connected isn't quite the same thing as staying current! Although, of course, one would hope that by maintaining conversations with other piano teachers (whether via an internet forum, at a conference, or just over the phone, even) would lead to being aware of new ideas, new repertoire and new resources.

Staying current, in my case, involves spending some considerable amount of time playing through, and often learning, new repertoire - either new to me, or new publications of previously unpublished material. This one single factor keeps my teaching focussed on the issues my students will be facing while they practice (an important aspect of 'currency': understanding your students' experience).
